ABOUT

Front of Karma Bird House, a brick building with a sign for Kestrel cafe, sidewalk, street with cars, and a colorful sunset sky with clouds and water in the distance.

Originally built in 1916 as a grocery warehouse, the current owners purchased the long-abandoned building in 1996 to house JDK Design. They restored the entire 47,000-square-foot space, preserving its industrial character while transforming it into a vibrant creative studio. When the design studio downsized in 2012, they converted the building into private office spaces while continuing to operate the studio onsite.

Today, the building remains a lively, thoughtfully curated workspace for a diverse group of tenants—reflecting their original vision, care, and commitment to design and community.
